A New Method to Quantify Mitral Regurgitation
نویسنده
چکیده
INTRODUCTION In cases of mitral regurgitation, the severity of the regurgitation is the major determinant of progression to left ventricular dilatation and dysfunction. Therefore, precise measurement of regurgitant volume in patients with mitral regurgitation is important for evaluating the progression of the disease which can then determine the optimal time for surgical repair or replacement. A wide range of analytic approaches and diagnostic technologies have been proposed to aid clinical evaluation of mitral r e g u rgitation. Yet all existing quantification methods have shown limitations in one form or another. The aim of this paper is to present a new technique based on a control volume method which can accurately quantify mitral regurgitation with the use of velocity encoded magnetic resonance images.

اثر PercutaneousCoronary Intervention Elective بر بهبودی نارسایی ایسکمیک میترال
Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...
متن کاملComparative Evaluation of Mitral Valve Strain by Deformation Tracking in 3D-Echocardiography
We present new algorithms to compute patient specific strain maps for mitral valve leaflets, by tracking and modeling deformations of the mitral valve apparatus in 3D echocardiography. We can then quantify comparisons of mitral leaflets strain maps between normal patients and cases of mitral valve prolapse or regurgitation. For patients with mitral valve regurgitation, we compare mitral leaflet...
متن کاملSHORT TERM CLINICAL OUTCOME OF PERCUTANEOUS BALLOON MITRAL VALVULOPLASTY VERSUS SURGICAL CLOSED MITRAL COMMISSUROTOMY
BaIlon mitral valvuloplasty and closed mitral valve conunissurotomy were performed in 450 and 127 patients, respectively. Also, 254 patients with severe mitral stenosis were enrolled in a prospective randomized trial comparing the two procedures. Immediately after balloon mitral valvuloplasty, mean left atrial pressure was 11.38±3.54 mmHg, transmitral valve gradient was 1.8±2 mmHg, and mit...
متن کاملQuantification of the Mitral Regurgitant Flow Using a Control Volume Method: in Vitro Evaluation Using Ultra-fast Magnetic Resonance Velocimetry
INTRODUCTION Reliable diagnosis of the severity of mitral regurgitation is important for proper patient treatment and management. However, current clinical methods are either qualitative or limited by geometric assumptions. The only technique capable of bypassing these geometric limitations and quantitatively measure mitral regurgitation is velocity encoded magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, also...
متن کاملGeneral anesthesia with remifentanil for cesarean section in a parturient with severe mitral and tricuspid regurgitation
Valvular heart lesions have deleterious effects on hemodynamics in parturients during pregnancy. Cesarean section with an opioid-based general anesthesia is used to alleviate the adverse effects. We described a case of a 28-year-old primigravida at 37 weeks’ gestation with a diagnosis of severe mitral regurgitation, tricuspid regurgitation, and pulmonary hypertension in active labor. Cesarean s...
